mixing old and new

mixing old and new is my favourite style as a lot of people.

But achieving the perfect look is not so easy.

I want people to describe my house, say " classic contemporary" but

always"homely" "mixing much" or "eclectic"witch is I don't mind, worth one is "clatter style".

Yes I do collect stuff, you need good dispelling I guess.

Well never mind I will get there as like these gorgeous houses.

Something I am always interested in, or I should say pulls me to it, is Ruins.

They're just so fascinating! Since I was little, as little as 4years old.

I walked into old, unused buildings or tried to find war time bunkers.

I loved spending time on my own, for hours I went out.

Nowadays you could never imagine a little child going out by his or herself.

Last year I visited a place in Kent, it was a huge development site which
used be an edwardian time hospital.

I visited this site for my work so I was not planing to walk into the those buildings.

But me being me, I asked forman if I could look around these buildings.
He told me that the buildings aren't stable so it's best only to look at the buildings from
outside. ( He gave me a helmet for health and safety!)

I looked around the buildings and looked at the inside from the broken windows and used door ways.

I was speechless, well... there was nobody there to chat with anyway.

Everything about this building was so fascinating, broken doors ,windows which lay on the floor. And there was one room which had an operational chair in.

Some rooms still had fire places, wide skirting board, picture rails and under what looks like 1970's wallpaper, there was a very pretty little floral wallpaper showing through.

Wall tiles and floor tiles, old carpet (looks like 1950's Heals) and when I noticed I walked inside the building (they were all jointed) up stairs and down stairs. It was Just "fascinating!!"

Antique Doors

Driving back from a friends home in London traffic, I took side roads to avoid sitting in the traffic.

If I have time I love driving into residential roads. I always found myself very excited by

just looking at the architectural features of the houses and the beautiful plants and flowers in front of the gardens. Lovely paint colours on the doors and window frames, also I love looking at beautiful stained glass in the doors and in the door frame surroundings. Some houses are so gorgeous that it makes me want to look at interior of the house and I nearly knocked on the door.

This area has this a lovely green waste bag.

(we have a big and ugly one!)

Terence Conran Exhibitions

Fuji and I went to the Terence Conran Exhibition at Design Museum in London.

Sir Conran is the most achieved in the world of contemporary design in the UK.

There was lots to see-ish, You should explore his works. I hope it inspires you as it did to us.

Congratulations for Diamond Jubilee

It is so cold! And on a day like today, or any another other day really....I love a nice hot coffee and bit of chocolate!

Fuji baked lovely soft choco cookies for us with some crunchy peanuts butter.

(Brownies are undoubtedly one of my all time favourites: she said)

To celebrate the queens 60th year we used our vintage jubilee cups and saucer.

Maisy seems to be enjoying the snow too!

I went out with Fuji to London, it was sooo cold but was always fun!!

We went to Angel in north London, and hunted for lovely vintage items.
There were a lot of lovely items in the market, especially these vintage/antique cups.

They make me want to have lots of tea parties with my friends.

I'm currently in the process of starting an art project in the school. What i do is entirely me choice and therefore chose modernist architecture. After an introduction I moved on to inspiration. Throughout the week I've been collecting up pictures, despite the fact that not all relate to architecture the pictures come together to make a good mood board.

Cleaning Tip (Taps)

Hi, monday morning is my cleaning day.

My task of the day was clearing my bath tap ( toooo much lime scale )

it's splashing water every where. and as it's no longer unscrewed, I'm finding it not so easy to clean.

I did try a couple different ways of cleaning it but none were very easy .

I've been watching my daughter make stuff out of balloons this weekend,

I thought they were quite flexible and tuff. With a little imagination I found that this is the easiest way to clean taps.

You can just cut the top off a ballon, and depending on the tap size you can adjust the opening.

Next you just put in the cleaning liquid, I used vinegar (best use a white vinegar).

I have used the bleach before it was too strong and it peeled off the chrome and damaged my taps.

Lovely alternative of daily/ sugar /gluten-free whipped cream.

I love my cream on top of coffee, cakes I would even like with some roast meet and hot indian curry.

I feel less guilt with this coconut whipped cream.

I am so easy target for marketing.

This innocent smoothies were so cute, I had have to buy one or two or three or more.

I thought that I had a good excuse for buying these smoothes.

These wooly hats, it did look good for my daughter's Babie doll's little head.

But they were too big, they were fine for my-scene doll's head though.

Oh yes! They are defiantly good for you!!

Beautiful morning again! always helps start the day.

It's a bit cold but coffee tastes better on a day like this.

As part of introducing myself, I thought i would introduce my collections.

I love collecting a lot of different things and if possible ones which are original.

Candleholders are the one I collect most.

Fritz Nagel and Ceasar Stoffi's candleholder : 1965/70's made in Germany and is

my latest purchase. I bought it from an antique fair in Belgium last summer.

I had an eye on this candleholder for quite sometime and finally

found the lovely original ones.

When you get closer and look through them, they gives you the feel of walking into a metal woodland. Of course it's a great sculpture too.

Loop Candle Holder

I love this, it's made from nickel and think it's better than the steel ones.

This one is a present from my friend whom runs a lighting company.
They are made as christmas gift for his clients.
A beautiful, simple design. Each piece is very, very heavy, before I opened the package I thought he brought me a brick for my present. It's very special as it's a limited edition.

Antiques... well, they're homely aren't they?

HI THIS IS FUJI. MY SCHOOL IS CURRENTLY HOSTING IT'S YEARLY RECYCLED FASHION SHOW. AS ALWAYS I'VE DECIDED TO TAKE PART IN THE EVENT. THIS YEAR THE THEME IS THTE 'SILVER SCREEN', YOU CAN INTERPRET IT HOW YOU LIKE AS LONG AS THE COSTUME RELATES IN SOMEWAY TO THE THEME. I'VE NOTICED THAT MOST PEOPLE HAVE DECIDED TO MAKE SOME FORM OF DRESS, BECAUSE OF THIS I'VE DECIDED TO TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE OF MAKING A "ROCKER" COSTUME.

Hi, it is lovely weather this morning. After the school run I went out for a walk with my puppy (maisy)

She is a 14 week old Golden Retriever. I am finding this quite a challenging stage at the moment

as she only likes to relieve herself inside the house. Hope she changes her mind soon, (touch-wood).

What is good is that you can go for a walk in the woods without
looking like a strange woman walking alone.

It is just the second day of posting. When I look at other peoples blogs

I'd love to know how this person lives,

what's his/her interior like, what they're interested in, and how they've created things.

Yes, I am nosy but this is my interest and I love getting lots of lovely ideas from other people.

So I thought I should introduce myself too.
Well slowly, I have to clean my house first before I can take photos.

My favorite room in our house is the Kitchen, especially around the washing area.

I don't have a view to die for so I made it into my own little gallery.

This way the area doesn't have the stereotypical domestic vibe to it.

Despite not looking practical, it's a surprisingly easy space to use.

I can leave lots of washings in the sink or around it without it being blatantly obvious.

Most of the time your eyes go to the paintings, and when you have friends over for dinner or tea

you don't feel the annoying urge to wash up so that it looks tidy,

that way you can enjoy your time with your friends and relax.

I love my paintings

they are my over 15years of collections

I will introduce my lest of kitchen when presentable!

but I have little picture when I sold my old kitchen table on the eBay .

A Happy New 2012!!

My daughter Fuji and I have decided to achieve lots of new things this year..

This Blog is one of them. But this is the one tricky one! Continuing is the key word here.

And Achieve!! (for Fuji Studying is the top of the list ! .......this is mum talking)

As I do a job as a buyer for antique and vintage items I thought it would be more fun introducing people to where we went and what nice stuff we saw sitting in the shop windows and the items we found!

Last weekend we went to LONDON, Spitalfields Market.

1st Saturday of every month the VINTAGE MARKET is on. We had fun shopping there.
